Parental consent. One of the grounds for an annulment is if the couple failed to get parental consent upon marriage, when one or the other spouse was within eighteen years old to twenty one years old. Petition for annulment must be filed within 5 years after reaching the age of twenty one. But if the parties chose to live with each other after the age of twenty one, petition for an annulment can no longer be filed.

Mental Illness. A marriage can also be annulled if during the marriage itself, one of the parties was of unsound mind, or has a mental illness at the time of the marriage.

Fraud. A spouse can file for an annulment if the marriage was a fraud. This includes whether      there was a (a) Nondisclosure of a previous conviction of the other party of a crime involving moral turpitude, (b) Concealment of the wife that she was pregnant by another man other than her husband at the time of marriage, (c) Concealment of sexually transmitted disease, or (d) Concealment of drug addiction, habitual alcoholism or homosexuality or lesbianism at the time of marriage.

Force. Upon marriage, if the consent of one of the parties was obtained by force, this can also be included as one of the grounds for an annulment. It can be through force, intimidation, or undue influence. The injured party must file for an annulment during five years within the marriage.

Impotence. If one of the parties was physically incapable consummating the marriage and appears to be incurable, this can be a ground in filing for an annulment, which must be filed five years within the marriage.

STD. If during the time of marriage, if one of the spouses was afflicted with a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) and is found to be very serious and incurable, this can be a ground in filing for an annulment, and must be filed within five years after the marriage.
